Governor Reynolds was in Elma for a round table discussion on the progress of the Elma Community (ECC) Complex Project. She also toured the medical clinic, which is the second phase of the ECC Project. Regional Health Services of Howard County is planning to open the Medical Clinic intending to provide services for well, chronic and acute visits, OB/prenatal care, lab and pharmacy services. Construction, with the labor largely donated by the Mennonite community along with local contractors, will be completed this month with a planned opening date later this year. Phase three will remodel a portion of the gym into a multi-purpose community room and City Clerk’s office and renovate the restrooms. The fourth phase with be an addition to the day care to expand the baby room and create a 3 year-old preschool space. Phase five will consist of remodeling the remaining gym space for the library. The sixth and final phase will be the grounds to include a parking lot, driveway, and landscaping. Phases three through six are planned to occur from the winter of 2020 to the fall of 2021 based on funding and contractor schedules.
